Snowberry bush predicting harsh 2012 winter

A snowberry bush up on the highlands of Scotland is showing similar signs as it did during the lead up to the winters of 2009 and 2010 both of which were very cold and brought widespread snow to the UK.

Former head of Ski Patrol at the CairnGorm Mountain Colin Matthew said that when the berries on the snowberry bush were big the winter that followed would be very cold.

Colin, who is still involved at the CairnGorm Mountain said that there has been a substantial repeat of the snowberries found in previous years where widespread snow had hit the UK.

It is too far away to know how accurate this is but there is no harm having a look and select your sledge in plenty of time in case there is a repeat of the snowfalls seen in 2009 and 2010.
