Choosing the the right sledge for your children
The snow is forecast and you want to get your kids a sledge to play with when it falls. Which one do you buy? This is a common question that we deal with quite often. Most if not all sledges are designed for children but they do differ in size and the smaller models may not suit the whole family. We'll take a look at what you will need to look out for when making you selection
Most of our sledges with steering and brakes require the user to sit in so for children over the age of 7 we would recommend a sledge with a width of at least 45cm. Users of ages under 7 will be able to use the smaller sledges with a width of 40cm.
If you are looking for a sledge for all of the family to use you will need to look at the bigger models with a width of at least 50cm or sleds which you sit on as opposed to sit in.
Sit on sledges include the traditional wooden sledges, the snow shuttle, snow tiger and other plastic models which share the traditional sled design. All of these sit on sledges can be made suitable for younger users with the addition of a seat or back rest which are available where appropriate.
